A quick recap of the past week of athletics at The College of Wooster:

SWIMMING & DIVING (Men 4-1, Women 5-0)

Wooster swimming and diving head coach Rob Harrington won his 250th dual meet on Friday evening, when the men dispatched Baldwin Wallace University 141-86 and the women made quick work of the Yellow Jackets 136-65.

First-year Ollie Bream continued her winning ways. The triple-winner from the Wooster Invitational led Friday’s field in the 200 individual medley (2:15.58), the 200 butterfly (2:14.45), and was part of the meet-opening 400 medley relay that touched at 4:12.05. Fellow first-year Hallie Findlan was another triple-winner, taking gold in the 100 (54.29) and 200 freestyles (2:00.45) and as part of the 400 freestyle relay (3:51.67).

Sophomore Josh Pearson led the men with three first-place finishes on the night. Those came in the 200 individual medley (2:00.55), the 200 butterfly (2:00.07), and the 400 freestyle relay (3:17.47).

TRACK & FIELD

Wooster’s men opened the indoor season with a first-place finish at the Wooster Invitational, while the women took second. The Scots logged 13 first-place finishes on the day. Among those, the Scots swept the high jump titles with senior Claudia Partridge (5 feet, 3.75 inches) and junior Luke Henke (6 feet, 2.25 inches) leading the way.

Other events where Wooster took first in both the men’s and women’s standings included the 400 meters, 3000 meters, and 4x400 relay. In the 400, sophomore Athena Tharenos held off junior teammate Haley Bloom with a 1:05.06, while on the men’s side, senior Nick Scherson’s 53.02 was the top time by nearly two seconds. First-year Dylan Kretchmar broke the tape in the 3K at 10:49.46, as did classmate Will Callender in the men’s race (9:30.47). Senior Maya Vasta, Partridge, Bloom, and Tharenos went 4:25.75 in the 4x400, and junior Joe Shilts, Scherson, sophomore Kyle Stringer, and first-year Ben Nichols closed the meet with a 3:42.43 in the men’s 4x400.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL (3-11, 2-3 NCAC)

Wooster played its first game since January 2 on Saturday. There, Wittenberg University pulled away from Wooster, 84-46. Senior Jenna Stanton scored a team-leading 15 points and she added eight rebounds on the day.
