A quick recap of the past week of athletics at The College of Wooster:

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Senior Miura Wiley became the first Fighting Scot to repeat as the North Coast Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year and just the fourth overall player in conference history to claim it back-to-back. Wiley posted career-highs in points (29) and goals (12), with both totals ranking first in the NCAC.

Junior Teddi Farson earned NCAC Newcomer of the Year honors in her first counting season of collegiate soccer. She’s Wooster’s first honoree for that award since Winnie Adrien in 2006.

Senior Kylie Davis, first-year Hallie Krzys, and sophomore Naomi Mann joined Wiley and Farson on the all-conference team.

Wiley and senior Alexa Bencic were voted to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District® Team, which was announced on Thursday. They are now on the Academic All-America® ballot.

FIELD HOCKEY

Senior Syd Schuster headlined Wooster’s All-NCAC selections as the only four-time all-league honoree league-wide this year, while three other Scots earned certificates in addition to the first-team midfielder. Senior forward Katie Agatucci earned second-team honors, while junior back Lucy Agurkis and senior forward Caitlyn O’Connor claimed honorable mention spots.

Schuster is Wooster’s 15th four-time All-NCAC selection and first since alumna Rose Taylor in 2018.

MEN’S SOCCER

Senior Wilson Freije earned all-conference honors for the second time, while classmate Dani Halbing joined him on the all-conference team. Freije played in 14 games in the midfield, with 12 starts. Halbing started all 18 games in the backfield and scored three goals as part of set pieces.

SWIMMING & DIVING (Men 3-0; Women 3-0)

Wooster swept Westminster College (Pa.) on Saturday, with the women winning 199-85 and the men prevailing 153-145.

First-year Hallie Findlan was the fastest woman in the water on Saturday and a quadruple-winner. Findlan’s meet started on the winning 400 medley relay (4:12.19), that won by over five seconds. Her time of 24.53 in the 50 freestyle was the best by nearly two seconds, while her winning effort of 54.09 in the 100 freestyle was nearly three seconds faster than the runner-up time. Findlan was part of Wooster’s winning 200 freestyle relay (1:44.96), with that quartet having an over four-second cushion on the runner-up time.

First-year Isaac Shaker was among the double winners on the men’s side. He won the 500 freestyle (5:00.15) and later took top honors in the 200 butterfly (2:01.88).

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL (1-1)

Wooster picked up its first win in the Mary Kate Tierney era with a 65-56 triumph over Franciscan University of Steubenville on Saturday. The Scots pulled away with a 20-11 fourth period. Sophomore Harley Holloway went 7-of-11 from the floor to finish with 17 points, and she had four steals. Senior Jenna Stanton added 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting, while sophomore Alyssa Chritz secured a game-high 11 rebounds.

The Scots dropped their season opener at Capital University on Wednesday, falling 63-51.
