Scott Jameson, a Sutton magician, faces child pornography charge

Scott Jameson, a Sutton resident who has worked as a magician for over 20 years, was arrested Friday morning on a charge of possession of child pornography stemming from a trip to Cambodia, according to the state U.S. Attorney's Office.

Jameson, 45, was scheduled to appear in federal court Friday in Boston.

Jameson has performed at libraries, private events and family events across New England. He usually performs as a magician for children who range from kindergarten to eighth grade. He performs frequently in Central Massachusetts.

According to the criminal complaint filed Friday, federal authorities were contacted in February by Action Pour Les Enfants, a Cambodian nongovernmental organization that combats child sexual abuse.

The organization reported that Jameson possibly engaged in inappropriate behavior with minors in Cambodia. Jameson was allegedly observed improperly interacting with a young Cambodian boy at a park.

The report also states that two preteen Cambodian boys informed APLE that Jameson slept with them in their bed on more than one occasion. However, the boys did not report any sexual abuse, according to a statement from U.S. Attorney Rachael Rollins' office.

U.S. federal authorities were notified that Jameson again traveled Aug. 28 to Cambodia. Upon his return Wednesday, Jameson was stopped at Logan Airport.

A search of his belongings led to the discovery of a video which depicted the intimate area of a young boy, around 5 to 7 years old, who appeared to be of Asian descent.

Another device contained over 100 images of apparent child pornography. One image featured a boy approximately 8 to 10 years old nude from the waist down.
