Scott, Red Raiders win at Inverness

TOLEDO, Ohio — Calum Scott, Ludvig Aberg and Tyran Snyders all finished in the top seven individually and Texas Tech won by six strokes in the Inverness Intercollegiate golf tournament that concluded Tuesday.

Scott (68-69-71) finished second individually, completing 54 holes at 5 under par on the par-71 course. Aberg (74-69-70) tied for fifth at even par, and Snyders (72-72-70) tied for seventh at 1-over. Jack Wall (74-74-70) delivered the Red Raiders' other counting score in Tuesday's final round and finished tied for 15th at 5-over.

Ethan Davidson (76-74-74) rounded out the Tech lineup.

Inverness has hosted the U.S. Open four times and the PGA Championship twice among other big events.

The Red Raiders were 1-over for the tournament, followed by Georgia Tech at 7-over, Oklahoma at 11-over, Virginia at 12-over and Louisville and Notre Dame at 21-over. There were 16 teams in the field.

The team title was Tech's 26th in Greg Sands' 21 seasons as the Red Raiders' coach.

Georgia Tech's Christo Lamprecht was the tournament medalist.

Tech volleyball

Texas Tech rallied for a five-set victory Saturday at West Virginia and is back home to host Kansas State in its Big 12 home opener at 6 p.m. Wednesday at United Supermarkets Arena.

Tech (12-2, 1-0) spotted West Virginia two sets and came back to win 25-27, 22-25, 25-22, 26-24, 15-10.

Kansas State (9-5, 0-1) dropped its conference opener at home Saturday to Kansas in five sets.

Kenna Sauer leads Tech with 212 kills, followed by Reagan Cooper with 123 and Brooke Kanas with 113. Reese Rhodes has racked up 528 assists, and Maddie Correa has 218 digs. Sauer is second in the Big 12 in kills per set, and Rhodes is second in assists per set.

LCU volleyball

Lubbock Christian University hosts three Lone Star Conference matches over four days, starting Wednesday when the Lady Chaps take on Midwestern State at 6 p.m. at the Rip Griffin Center.

LCU (5-10, 1-3) is trying to snap a two-match losing streak. Midwestern State (3-13, 1-3) has dropped three in a row and has lost 14 of the past 17 in the series with the Lady Chaps.

LCU hosts St. Edward's (5-10, 2-2) at 6 p.m. Friday and St. Mary's (6-9, 2-2) at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Leading the Lady Chaps in kills are Sage Chain with 123, Lily Bickley with 120, Kiana Fallaha with 106 and Aaliyah Gray with 101. Other category leaders are Kayton Genenbacher with 533 assists, Kendall Mahaney with 250 digs and Chain with 59 blocks.

LCU women's soccer

Lubbock Christian University, off to its best start in 10 years, puts its unbeaten streak on the line when the Lady Chaps host No. 10 West Texas A&M in Lone Star Conference action at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

LCU (6-0-4, 3-0-1) is one of four teams yet to lose a conference match. The others are Angelo State (9-0-1, 4-0), St. Edward's (7-1-1, 3-0) and Dallas Baptist (6-0-1, 2-0-1). There are 13 teams competing for the conference title.

LCU's record after 10 matches is the program's best since 2012, when the Lady Chaps started 12-0.

The Lady Chaps' top offensive weapons include Lexi De La Cruz (eight goals, one assist, 17 points), Graycen Rasmussen (5-2-12), Stephanie McClung (3-2-8), Maddie Hoel (1-4-6) and Julie Shaha (2-1-5).

De La Cruz is tied for second in the conference in goals, and Rasmussen is second in the LSC in shots (30) and tied for seventh in goals. Hoel and teammate Arely Jimenez (0-4-4) are tied for second in the conference in assists.

LCU goalkeeper Abby Kone has four shutouts and a .900 goals-against average.

WBU women's golf

LAUREL, Mont. — Mason Garrett took second place individually, leading Wayland Baptist to a runner-up finish in the Beartooth Invitational, a two-day event that concluded Tuesday.

Garrett shot 78-76. Wayland's Morgan Rutledge (82-75) finished fourth, and Bianca Cunningham (81-77) was fifth. The Pioneers' Alexza Madrid (85-86) placed 12th, one spot ahead of Ashlynn Watley (95-84) and Wayland medalist player Trinity Conard (88-91).

Tournament host Rocky Mountain College beat Wayland by 10 strokes.

WBU men's golf

INNISBROOK, Fla. — Wayland Baptist tied for fourth in a 17-team field at the Innisbrook Invitational, which was shortened from 54 holes to 36 because of the threat of Hurricane Ian.

Jay Nathwani (74-73) led the Pioneers, tying for 14th out of 94 players. Next after him were Benjamin Lubker (74-75) and Zane Welborn (73-76), who tied for 22nd. The first two rounds were played Monday, and Tuesday's final round was canceled.

Winning the team title was defending NAIA champion and top-ranked Keiser, a school from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
