Louisville football players woke up to a stunner Monday morning.
Their coach, Scott Satterfield, hired in 2018 to lead a program in the wake of Bobby Petrino's second tenure with the program, is taking the University of Cincinnati head coaching job. The news broke almost exactly four years to the day since Satterfield joined U of L from Appalachian State.
To say the Cardinals were shocked, hurt and perhaps more goes without saying. Satterfield's job security was uncertainty barely a month ago after a 2-3 start. But he turned around the program, won five of the last seven, and secured a bowl game for the third time in his tenure. He saved his job and had one of the nation's best projected recruiting classes coming in for 2023.
Now, with the Cardinals set to face the very same Bearcats in two weeks in the Fenway Bowl in Boston, U of L players are left wondering why and what's next.

Last thing I will say. When the South Carolina job rumors were floating around, he MADE US tweet about how well he was treating us good, but wouldn’t tell his players that he was leaving in person! He was NEVER honest with us!
