Here are the top 3 stories in Scottsdale today:

  1. According to KPNX, Apartment List recorded six Arizona cities with more than 25 percent rent increases in the last year. Scottsdale was number three nationally, behind New York City and Tampa, Florida. From January 2021 to January 2022, Scottsdale rents rose 31.1 percent. According to the report, Mesa, Phoenix, Glendale, Chandler, and Gilbert were also in the top 20 cities. "Rent prices have just been skyrocketing pretty much across the country," Rob Warnock, a senior research associate with Apartment List said. (12news.com KPNX)

  2. According to the Arizona Department of Health Services, 37 percent of Arizonans who are eligible have received COVID-19 booster shots. According to AZ Family reporting, "In the more vulnerable 65 and older age group, about 55 percent have rolled up their sleeves for the third shot." Reportedly, boosters for the older set are essential because the immune system becomes weaker with age. (Arizona's Family)

  3. "Construction in the valley right now is very, very expensive," said Debra Bradley, COO of Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona. According to AZ Family, labor and material shortages have dramatically increased prices. Habitat for Humanity of Central Arizona may have found a solution that hits the nail on the head— a 3D-printed house in Tempe. "It is our hope and dream soon to be able to build affordable housing, to build it faster, to build it less expensively, and to build it with less waste," said Bradley. (Arizona's Family)
