Scranton SVU arrests man on sexual assault charges

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY — A Lackawanna County man was taken into custody Friday after police say he sexually assaulted a child.

According to the Scranton Police Special Victim’s Unit (SVU) James Goff, 63, of Scranton is in custody after he sexually assaulted a three-year-old child.

Police say they took James Goff into custody on Friday without incident after the victim’s parents reported the alleged assaults.

Goff was arraigned and remanded to the Lackawanna County Prison after he couldn’t post a monetary bail of $300,000.

Goff is charged with two counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, two counts of aggravated indecent assault of a child, one count of indecent assault of a person less than thirteen years of age, corruption of minors, and endangering the welfare of children.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday, February 5 at 11:00 a.m.
