Scream's Courteney Cox has weighed in on Neve Campbell's decision to leave the slasher saga.

Last year, the Sidney Prescott actress announced she wouldn't return for the upcoming Scream VI as she felt the offer presented by the studio was inadequate.

Helmed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett — the directing duo behind the legacy sequel released in 2022 — the new chapter moves the action to New York, where OG Woodsboro survivor Gale Weathers (Cox) hosts her own talk show.

In a chat with Variety, the Friends actress opened up on "missing" working with Campbell on the latest instalment.

"I missed working with her, but I'm going to support whatever she feels is right," Cox said.

As for Gale, Cox explained it was more fun this time around as she didn't know the masked killer's real identity when they were filming.

"I have a really good scene with Ghostface and it was amazing," she said.

"I've obviously been stabbed many times and all that, but this time, to work with Ghostface and not know who's under the mask, it was really fun. Usually by the time I'm getting stabbed, I know who it is."

The new film also sees Hayden Panettiere reprise the role of Kirby Reed, left for dead in Scream 4.

Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega returns as sisters Sam and Tara Carpenter from Scream (2022), together with Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding as twins Mindy and Chad Meeks-Martin.

Cast is rounded out by Scream newcomers Tony Revolori, Samara Weaving, Dermot Mulroney, Lianna Liberato, Josh Segarra, Devyn Nekoda and Jack Champion.

Scream 6 will be out in UK cinemas on March 8 and US cinemas on March 10. Scream is out now on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD, or to download and keep. US viewers can also stream the new movie on Paramount+.
