Scuffles Erupt During Jordanian Parliamentary Session Over Draft Amendment to Constitution

A heated argument broke out in Jordan’s House of Representatives on Tuesday, December 28, with deputies shouting, gesturing and one deputy approaching the house’s president before being led away.

The incident erupted after the head of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, Abdel Moneim Al-Awda, attempted to intervene during a parliamentary session to discuss a draft amendment to the Jordanian constitution. Parliament Speaker Abdul Karim Al-Daghmi adjourned the session after the disturbances broke out.
