New sculpture at Atlanta’s Freedom Park highlights diversity

The Atlanta City Council marked the introduction of a new sculpture that brings the whole world to Freedom Park.

It’s a 10-foot stainless steel sphere built with nine different languages.

The layered piece surrounds the sculpture of a man at the center of the globe.

City officials say the piece highlights Atlanta’s commitment to fostering diversity and giving everyone access to beautiful public art.

The sculpture was made by contemporary artist Jaume Plensa.

It sits across from the Carter Center and features letters from Hindi, Chinese, Arabic, Hebrew, Japanese, Cyrillic, Tamil, and Greek.
