DALE YURONG: It is a mystical, magical connection, these ties to the title. In the World Series, the big league ball club of the Triple-A Fresno Grizzlies always seems to be the one cracking open champagne bottles.

DALE YURONG: Grizzlies fans have this tradition of celebrating World Series titles at Chukchansi Park. The Grizzlies are championship ring-bearers. Their parent clubs have collected five rings this decade.

DEREK FRANKS: We solidified that the magic that we talk about here in Fresno is real, with the Nationals being able to take it home.

DALE YURONG: Team President Derek Franks says it's hard to explain, but the Grizzlies mojo clearly takes hold in the postseason.

DEREK FRANKS: We're in legendary status at this point, because it's just so unusual to have the affiliation changes and have this happen.

DALE YURONG: The San Francisco Giants won three titles in 2010, 2012, and 2014, while Fresno was its AAA team. In 2014, "Sports Illustrated" predicted the Astros would win it all in 2017. Two years after Houston partnered with the Grizzlies, they won the World Series. Coincidence?

DEREK FRANKS: It tells you the reputation is real, and that the big-league clubs know that there's something special about Fresno, as we've always known.

DALE YURONG: The Grizzlies and local stores like JR's Collectibles in Northwest Fresno will soon receive their championship gear. The Nats locker room shirts are expected in on Friday, and the store has plenty of caps. Krystal Villarreal says it's all about the Fresno factor.

KRYSTAL VILLAREAL: Obviously. From the San Francisco Giants to the Houston Astros, now to the Washington Nationals. It's amazing.

DALE YURONG: Baseball superstitions run deep. Players may literally stick with the same smelly socks. Add in analytics, and big league clubs may be seeing the Grizzlies in a new light.

DEREK FRANKS: If they're into analytics, I think we've got pretty good stats to back up that this is a great place to develop players.

DALE YURONG: Not that anyone wants the champs to leave. And in the middle of those five World Series titles following the Nationals win, you can also add the Fresno Grizzlies' Triple-A national championship in 2015. There must be a magic lamp somewhere at Chukchansi Park. Dale Yurong, ABC 30 Action News.
