From sea and sky, Blue Angels fly high this weekend over Jacksonville Beach

This year's free Jacksonville Sea and Sky Air Show will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday around the pier and over Jacksonville Beach. The "Fat Albert" C-130J Super Hercules plane is scheduled to fly over the crowd at 2:45 p.m. each day, followed by the Blue Angels at 3 p.m. Additional aircraft and squadrons will take part.

The Blue Angels formed in Jacksonville and performed their first air show at Craig Field in 1946. The team flies F/A 18 Hornets with precision formations and aerobatic maneuvers.

Due to limited parking availability, a shuttle service noon to 6 p.m. is being offered from the Florida State College at Jacksonville – South Campus. Parking is free but shuttle passes are $10.

Jacksonville Beach weekend road closures are as follows 11:30 a.m. through 7 p.m.:

  • 1st St. N. from 2nd Ave. N. to Beach Blvd. - access to Four Points by Sheraton Jacksonville Beachfront Hotel to remain open.

  • 1st Ave. N. between 2nd St. N. and 1st St. N.
