Seacoast high school sports: Vote now for the Athletes of Week, Jan. 10-15

Welcome to the fourth installment of the Seacoast Athlete of the Week for the winter high school sports season.

This week, and in the weeks to come, you can vote for a girl athlete of the week and a boy athlete of the week.

This week's poll is for athletic accomplishments the week of Jan. 10 to Jan. 15.

How do I cast my vote?

Voting can be completed through the two ballots listed below.

Voting begins Monday, Jan. 17, and closes midnight on Thursday, Jan. 20.

How do we learn who wins?

Winners will be announced in a story published on Friday, Jan. 21 at seacoastonline.com and fosters.com.

May I nominate for future ballots?

BOYS:

Dover High School senior Tyler Sheedy runs at the US Air Force Hispanic Games last Saturday in New York. He won the race in a time of 9 minutes, 27.12 seconds.
Dover High School senior Tyler Sheedy runs at the US Air Force Hispanic Games last Saturday in New York. He won the race in a time of 9 minutes, 27.12 seconds.

Tyler Sheedy, Dover, track and field

Dover High School senior Tyler Sheedy participated in the 2-mile run at the U.S. Air Force Hispanic Games at the Armory in New York on Jan. 8, and came in first place overall in a field of nine, with a time of 9.27.12. Sheedy earned a spot in the national championship in March back at The Armory.

Joe Larrabee, Winnacunnet, hockey

Winnacunnet's Joe Larrabee was a force during the Warriors' 5-3 Division-II win over Alvirne/Milford last Wednesday, as Larrabee scored four goals to lead Winnacunnet to the win.

Parker Fleury, Dover, hockey

In Dover's 8-3 win over Spaulding on Wednesday, and a 5-3 win over Somersworth/Coe-Brown on Saturday, Dover's Parker Fleury scored his goals at the right time, both times putting Dover back in the lead. Fleury scored two goals in the win over Spaulding and another two goals in the win over Somersworth/Coe-Brown.

Sunny Johnson, Seacoast Christian School, basketball

Seacoast Christian's Sunny Johnson had a good week last week in two games for the Guardians. In Tuesday's 33-32 win over Pine Tree Academy, it was Johnson's jumper with 31 seconds left that lifted the Guardians to a Class D win. Johnson scored 14 points, added 10 rebounds and 4 steals. In Friday's 47-41 win over Temple Academy, Johnson scored 13 points.

Matthew Minckler, Portsmouth, basketball

Portsmouth basketball had a busy week last week, including a back-to-back on Friday and Saturday, with a home game against Merrimack Friday and a road game on Saturday against Spaulding, and Minckler was up for the task. Minckler scored 16 points In Friday's 57-53 win over Merrimack, and scored 15 points in the 67-33 win over Spaulding.

GIRLS:

Margaret Montplaisir, Portsmouth, basketball

In three games last week for the Clippers, Portsmouth sophomore Margaret Montplaisir made her presence felt on the court. In Monday's 68-37 Division-I win over Londonderry, Montplaisir scored 16 points, and scored 8 points in a 55-42 win over Merrimack on Friday. Montplaisir scored 17 points in the Clippers 47-26 win over Spaulding on Saturday afternoon.

Erin McIlroy, Exeter, basketball

Exeter's Erin McIlroy excelled last week for the Blue Hawks, as her 10 point, 4 rebound, 6 steals performance led Exeter to a 54-40 Division-I win over Trinity. McIlroy scored 8 points with 5 rebounds in Wednesday's 53-51 over Merrimack, and another 8 points in Friday's 57-25 win over Nashua North.

Breckyn Winship, Seacoast Christian, basketball

Breckyn Winship had a week to remember as she totaled 38 points, 16 rebounds, 12 steals and 9 assists to lead the Guardians to two wins last week. In Tuesday's 35-13 win over Pine Tree Academy, Winship tallied 16 points, 9 boards and 7 steals. In Friday's 46-23 win over Temple Academy, Winship scored 22 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals.

Mackenzie Babine, Exeter, hockey

Exeter High School girls hockey team picked up a huge Division-I win last Wednesday in a 9-2 victory over Bedford. In the win, Babine scored 4 goals, and added an assist for Exeter.

Emma Hale, Traip Academy, basketball

In Traip Academy's 41-26 Class C win over Poland last Tuesday, Emma Hale scored 16 points to lead the Rangers to the win. During Friday's 41-17 win over Cape Elizabeth, Hale scored 9 points for Traip Academy.
