The Seattle Seahawks have announced a number of newsworthy roster moves ahead of their Week 6 contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Quarterback Russell Wilson and running back Chris Carson have both been placed on the injured reserve.

Wilson underwent surgery on the middle finger of his throwing hand after the Thursday-night loss to the Rams. Carson, who was ruled out Friday for his second-straight game, has been battling a neck injury.

Veteran backup Geno Smith will get the start for Wilson and Alex Collins will lead the backs in place of Carson.

To fill the empty spots on the 53-man roster, center Ethan Pocic and cornerback Tre Brown have been activated back from the injured reserve. Both players had been battling knee injuries – Pocic since Week 1 and Brown since summer’s training camp.
