Seahawks speak with ex-Jets coach Adam Gase about coordinator job

Seahawks fans might want to avert their eyes at this one. With the surprise parting of ways with offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, the Seahawks are currently in the market to find a new coach to helm the offense and help find answers for a unit perpetually stalling late in the season.
Seattle recently talked with former Eagles head coach Doug Pedersen about the vacancy, but it appears they are also kicking the tires on another recently dismissed head coach . . . Adam Gase.
Gase was recently fired from the Jets after posting a miserable 9-23 record during his two seasons with Gang Green. Despite being inexplicably dubbed an offensive guru, Gase’s offenses have routinely been abysmal, not just with the Jets, but also when he led the Dolphins – a job he was fired from two years ago.
Perhaps the most damning for Gase’s claim to being a quality offensive coach is with quarterback Ryan Tannehill. Under Gase in Miami, Tannehill’s career seemed destined to be over. Now, in Tennessee and away from Gase, Tannehill is statistically one of the best signal-callers in the NFL.
The Seahawks got an up-close look at Gase’s offense in Week 14 when they lambasted New York to the tune of 40-3. Of course, blowout losses to the Seahawks aren’t new to Adam Gase, as he was the offensive coordinator for the Broncos in 2013 and his offense was dominated by the Seahawks in their 43-8 Super Bowl XLVIII victory.
Of course, not to mention star safety Jamal Adams was a very vocal critic of Gase when he was still with the Jets.
If the Seahawks are serious about fixing their offense, they need to steer clear of a coach who will categorically make it worse.
