SEAL Team spoilers follow.

American military drama programme SEAL Team is ending after a brief revival for its seventh season.

The series, which follows elite Navy SEAL unit Bravo Team, recently confirmed its seventh season – but it looks like that's the end of the road for David Boreanaz's Jason Hayes and his charges.

The ending of the show after season seven has been confirmed by Deadline.

The season will reportedly go into production in early December 2023, and air next year, in 2024.

The procedural drama, which also stars Max Thieriot (Bates Motel), AJ Buckley (Supernatural), Neil Brown Jr (The Walking Dead), Jessica Paré (Mad Men) and Judd Lormand (American Horror Story), has been through a flurry of cancellation rumours, including a campaign from fan to ensure it was renewed past season six.

With the season ending on a cliffhanger including the demise of Thieriot's original character Clay Spenser, SEAL Team was not immediately renewed for a seventh season.

According to Deadline, this was, "in part due to talks about finding ways to produce the series more efficiently for streaming".

The series moved from original network CBS to streaming service Paramount+ for its sixth season, which contained only 10 episodes – the least number of any season.

"The series continues to evolve and grow its audience. It is a great example of the types of programming that we see resonate with our subscribers."

SEAL Team streams on Paramount+ in the US, with UK fans getting it over on Sky.
