The Los Angeles Rams recently signed Malcolm Brown to their practice squad and it doesn’t appear he’ll have to wait long to join the active roster. With the Rams needing depth at the running back position, Sean McVay hinted at Brown being elevated to the active roster before Monday’s matchup with the San Francisco 49ers.

Outside of Darrell Henderson and Cam Akers, the Rams don’t have a running back they can lean on. Rookie Kyren Williams was supposed to handle a reserve role for Los Angeles this season, but he was placed on injured reserve following Week 1.

Considering that Henderson and Akers have had injury concerns of their own, the Rams elected to bring in a familiar face in Brown to provide depth in the backfield. The former undrafted running back out of Texas was with the Rams from 2015 to 2020 before signing with the Miami Dolphins in 2021.

The experienced running back wasn’t on a roster this season, however, McVay knows what Brown brings to the table at the running back position. Even though Brown hasn’t had much time to get acclimated back with the organization, fans should expect to see him in uniform versus the 49ers in Week 4.
