Search for missing boy surpasses third week

Jun. 17—MONTEZUMA — Three weeks have now passed since an 11-year-old boy went was last seen in Poweshiek County.

Xavior Harrelson, 11, was last seen on or about May 27. A neighbor reported the boy missing to law enforcement on May 27. The search quickly grew to include hundreds of community members, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, as well as other central Iowa agencies.

Thursday marked the three weeks since he was reported missing.

Earlier this week, the Poweshiek County Sheriff's Office said a reward fund has reached $17,000 thanks to support from community members and businesses. To contribute to the fund, contact the Montezuma State Bank at 641-623-5766.

Law enforcement hopes the reward fund may help produce information to close the case.

Harrelson is described as 4-foot-9, 100 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
