Search still on for lone bull after several bovines escape into Cherokee Park

One bull is still on the run after an accident caused nearly a dozen bodacious bovines to get buck wild in Cherokee Park Friday.

A volunteer cowboy is still searching for a loose cow after he caught three of four of the munching moo-vers after the cows escaped into Cherokee Park following a non-fatal wreck last week, officials from Louisville Metro Police said.

A part-time cowboy from Huntington, West Virginia, managed to wrangle one of the cows near Cassleberry Road and another near the Cherokee Golf Course, said Tara Bassett, who went live on Facebook about the incident.

One bull managed to lead the cowboy on a "merry chase" around the Highlands, where he rode down Bardstown Road on horseback Saturday night, Bassett said.

The volunteer was eventually able to corner the cow into the backside of a small parking lot with some lights where he finally roped the cow by about 9:30 p.m., Bassett said. Police officials confirmed the report.

The cowboy said there wasn't any beef with the more difficult bull, since he only became belligerent when he was cornered, the volunteer said.

Wrangler has arrived back on the scene and should have this bull roped in minutes. Watch the skill.

Seven other young cows were loaded into a trailer after the incident on Friday, largely with the help of Marshall Berry of Olmstead Parks Conservancy. Louisville Metro Police and Louisville Animal Metro Services were also present at the scene and assisted in transporting the cows to a safe location.
