Search underway at Yosemite National Park for missing hiker

A desperate search was underway Tuesday in Yosemite National Park for a woman who vanished during a hike last week.

Authorities believe “Alice” Yu Xie traveled from Mariposa to Yosemite on a YARTS bus for a hike to the Upper Yosemite Fall overlook on either Thursday or Friday morning.

“She has not been seen since,” according to a statement from Yosemite National Park.

Xie, a Chinese National living in the United States, is described as “less than 5 feet tall, less than 100 pounds, and has neck-length black hair.” While authorities could not provide a description of her clothing, they said the 41-year-old was last seen sporting a green backpack with polka dots.

Investigators are now calling on anyone who may have been on the trail last week to come forward with information that could be relevant to the case.

Park officials have requested hikers call 209-372-0216 during business hours with any information. People can also contact the Yosemite Emergency Communications Center after hours at 209-379-1992.
