Searching for an Easter egg hunt in Portage County? What you need to know

The Easter Bunny will hop into many area malls this weekend!

Portage County residents will have a number of family-friendly Easter egg hunts to choose from this weekend and on April 8.

This year, Easter Sunday in April 9.

Along with the traditional hunt for Easter eggs filled with goodies, area events also are offering a chance for photos with the Easter Bunny, games and even a hunt with alpacas and goats.

Here's what you need to know:

Saturday, April 1:

  • Note: This event will be on Sunday due to inclement weather. An Easter egg hunt and second-annual Charity Golf Ball Drop at Rootstown Community Park, 4104 Case Ave., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Rain date for the event is Sunday. The Easter egg hunt is for children ages 2 to 10. The golf ball drop, presented by Blue Line Unlimited in partnership with the Portage County Sheriff's Office, supports Akron Children's Hospital and Shriners Hospitals for Children burn units. Golf balls are $20 each and are like raffle tickets. The ball dropped from a fire truck that lands closest to a pin on the ground wins $1,000 for its purchaser.   • Note: Due to inclement weather, this event will be indoors at Faith United Methodist Church, 1235 Tallmadge Rd. The Brimfield Historical Society will host the Kelso House Easter Egg Hunt, 4158 state Route 43, starting at 10 a.m. Children 12 and younger will have an opportunity to hunt for thousands of eggs and meet the Easter Bunny.   • The Mantua Police Department partnering with Christ Lutheran Church is presenting its second-annual Easter Egg Hunt at the church, 10827 Main St., from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Egg hunt for children 3 and under begins at noon, ages 4 to 8 at 12:15 p.m., ages 9 to 12 at 12:30 p.m. and 13 and up at 12:45 p.m. There will also be snacks and games. Police K-9 Ciko will provide demonstrations.

  • Streetsboro Parks and Recreation and American Legion Post 685 will host Streetsboro Easter Egg Hunt 2023 at Streetsboro City Park, 8970 Kirby Lane, starting at 10 a.m. The start time for children ages 2 to 4 is 10 a.m., ages 5 and 6 is 10:20 a.m., ages 7 and 8 is 10:40 a.m. and ages 9 and 10 is 11 a.m. The event is free and the Easter Bunny will be on hand for photos. Sunday, April 2:

  • Trinity Lutheran Church of Kent's Egg Hop will be at the church, 600 S. Water St., from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Similar to a Halloween trunk-or-treat, it will be in the parking lot, or the church hall if it is raining. There will also be a craft table. The event is free and open to the public.

  • The Randolph Fire Department is hosting its 41st-annual Easter Egg Hunt at 1639 state Route 44. Fire engine rides begin at 1 p.m. and the egg hunts for various age groups, including an all-age group, at 2 p.m., rain or shine. Participants are asked to bring their own baskets. The Easter Bunny will be present and there will be a bicycle helmet raffle for one boy and one girl in each age group, along with prizes, popcorn, punch and coffee.   • The Suffield League is hosting its annual Easter Egg Hunt at Wingfoot Lake State Park, in the field next to the Pine Tree Shelter, at 1 p.m. The event is free, but donations of canned goods will be accepted for the Portage County Food Shelf. There will be prizes for three age groups: 3 and under, 4 to 6, and 7 to 10 (fifth grade). The Easter Bunny will be available for photos and in case of inclement weather, will hand out treat eggs. The Suffield League is a newly formed organization that supports the community by running family-friendly events.

Saturday, April 8:

  • Lake Brady United Methodist Church, 1995 Brady Lake Rd in Kent, will hold an Easter meet and greet from 1 to 4 p.m. The event will include a free Easter egg hunt, Easter baskets and lunch.

  • The Windham Easter Egg Hunt will be at Windham Park at 1 p.m. The event is for three age groups: 1 to 5, 6 to 9, and 10 to 13. Participants are asked to bring their own baskets. Register by Saturday by emailing acarter.wpd@gmail.com or calling 330-326-2212. If the park is too wet, the egg hunt with be at the Windham High School football field.

  • Easter at the Farm Egg Hunt with alpacas, goats and the Easter Bunny will at Pure Passions Farm, 7679 Seasons Road in Kent, from noon to 4 p.m. Children are divided into two age groups with a guaranteed number of eggs for each group, ages 5 and under get 10 eggs each, 6 to 10 get 15 eggs. Eggs can be turned into prizes and candy. Cost for egg hunters is $12, non-hunters get in free. Go to www.purepassionsfarm.com and click on "Easter" at top left to purchase tickets. Other activities include face painting, coloring pages, feeding alpacas and goats, a playground, and fairy garden. Vendors and a food truck will also be present.

  • Ravenna Parks and Recreation is presenting the Easter Eggtravagaza and Touch-A-Truck at Ravenna City Park of Dreams, ​165 Oakwood St., from 9:40 a.m. to noon. The event will include egg hunts, carnival games, and the Easter Bunny making his entrance on a fire truck.

  • Ravenna Township is presenting Easter Egg Fun Day at the township's administrative building and fire department, 6115 S, Spring St., at 10 a.m. This an allergy-friendly event is for children ages 2 to 12. The Easter Bunny will be present. Parents are encouraged to bring cameras.
