Searing Temperatures Continue To Break Records In Riverside

RIVERSIDE, CA - Riverside County will continue to experience abnormally high temperatures Sunday and into Monday. Some areas have broken temperature records over the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures are expected to remain about 10 to 15 degrees above average for this time of year through Monday with low relative humidity, according to the NWS.

Cooler weather is predicted to arrive Wednesday, at the very earliest.

Forecasters said temperatures Sunday will reach 106 degrees in Palm Springs, 105 degrees in Thermal, 98 degrees in Lake Elsinore and 98 degrees in Riverside.

On Saturday, Idyllwild hit 91 degrees, surpassing the previous record of 90 degrees set in 1980, NWS officials said. This is the second day in a row that Idyllwild has broken a temperature record.

Meanwhile, San Jacinto hit 103 degrees Saturday, surpassing the previous record of 101 degrees set in 1993.

Other high temperatures Saturday included 107 degrees in Palm Springs, 105 degrees in Blythe, 100 degrees in Riverside and 97 degrees in Corona, according to the NWS.
