Seasonal ice cream stands are opening. What to know before you go.

It’s that time of year. The days are getting longer, and temps are getting warmer. Spring is just around the corner, and kids are getting restless to spend more time outdoors.

It’s the perfect time to load up the family and visit the local ice cream stand. Here’s a list of shops opening soon. Some still only accept cash, while others charge a fee to use credit cards, so prepare in advance by hitting the ATM on the way.

Stark County seasonal ice cream shops opening soon

2 Scoopz, at 138 Fifth St. NW in downtown Canton, opened March 5. 2 Scoopz features soft serve and hard scoop ice cream. Find 2 Scoopz on Facebook.

Cherry Street Creamery, at 136 Cherry St. W in Canal Fulton, opened March 10. This shop accepts cash only, but there is an ATM available. Cherry Street Creamery offers freshly made custard and hard ice cream, milkshakes and sweet treats plus a food menu. cherrystreetcreamery.com

Country Cones, at 4219 Middlebranch Ave. NE in Plain Township, opens Friday. Operating since 1988, Country Cones is known for its coneys and jumbo cookie sandwich. facebook.com/countrycones

Patrick’s Drive-In, an ice cream and sandwich shop at 1101 Cleveland Ave. NW in Canton, is opening Friday. Find Patrick’s Ice Cream on Facebook.

Fluppy's Ice Cream, at 240 Mill St. in Sandy Township, opens March 17. Fluppy's offers soft serve ice cream, sundaes, shakes, sandwiches and snacks.

Kustard Korner, at 2710 Fulton Drive NW in Canton, will open noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday for a St. Patrick’s Day themed menu, and plans to open for the regular season on March 20. Kustard Korner serves soft custard and food. Cash and credit cards are accepted. There is a 4% convenience fee for card purchases. facebook.com/kustardkorner

The Dalton Dari-ette, at 240 S. Mill St. in Sugar Creek, is opening March 21. The menu includes soft-serve and hard ice cream, hot dogs, burgers, sandwiches, additional hot food, salads and coleslaw, sides, and cold and hot drinks. daltondariette.com

Ro’s Custard Creations, at 1166 S. Main St. in North Canton, is opening April 1. Ro’s offers premium custard, frozen yogurt, sundaes, milkshakes and hot food. Find Ro's Custard Creations in North Canton on Facebook.

Twistee Treat West, at 2629 Lincoln Way W in Massillon, expects to open in mid-April, but the shop is always weather dependent. Along with ice cream, Twistee Treat also offers hot dogs, burgers and sandwiches, salads and sides. facebook.com/twisteetreatwest

New Baltimore Homemade Ice Cream, with locations at 14738 Ravenna Ave. NE in Marlboro Township and 3271 Edison St. NW in Hartville, is tentatively opening April 23. New Baltimore is a family-owned business selling homemade ice cream. facebook.com/NewBaltimoreIceCream

Woody’s Rootbeer Stand, at 2303 Fulton Road NW in Canton, didn't respond to a plea for comment, but its Facebook states the shop is open seasonally April to September. The menu features ice cream cones, sundaes, milkshakes, slushies and of course, rootbeer floats, as well as sandwiches, sides and drinks. facebook.com/woodys.rootbeerstand
