A 30-year-old Mansfield man died after a two-vehicle crash Monday morning on Mansfield's east side.

The crash was reported at 8:31 a.m. at the intersection of Stewart Road and Ohio 430, known locally as Park Avenue East, according to a news release provided by the Ohio Highway Patrol.

Troopers said that according to a preliminary investigation, a 2013 Kia Forte driven by Bryant Burgess, 30, of Mansfield, with front-seat passenger Zachary Evans, 30, of Mansfield, had been traveling east on Ohio 430 when it attempted to turn north onto Stewart Road.

During that turn, the Kia failed to yield to a 2014 Ford F-150 that was traveling west on Ohio 430, the patrol said.

The Ford was driven by Antonio Barrett, 51 of Mansfield, with front seat passenger, John Harvey, 47, of Mansfield, the patrol said

The pickup crashed into the smaller vehicle, forcing the Kia off the road and causing the Ford to strike a utility pole.

"Seatbelts were not in use by Burgess and Evans," the news release states.

Burgess, Evans and Barrett were taken to the OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital by Madison Township EMS.

Evans died at the hospital, the patrol said.

Burgess and Barrett were both released from the hospital on Monday, according to Katie Lowe, a media relations consultant for OhioHealth.

Harvey was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The Richland County Sheriff's Office and Madison Township Fire assisted at the crash site.
