Seattle favorite Beth’s Cafe to reopen July 8 after months-long closure

Beth’s Cafe, the iconic diner located near Green Lake in Seattle, is set to reopen Thursday, July 8.

The restaurant’s reopening date was announced in a message posted to its website:

“For safety and practical considerations, Beth’s decided to close while restaurants were at 25-50% capacity; it simply wasn’t sustainable for us. But now that all restrictions have been lifted, we’re ba-a-a-c-c-k-k!”

Beth’s closed on Sept. 6, 2021, with plans to reopen in three to six months or “whenever COVID is more under control.”

Located on Aurora Avenue North, Beth’s Cafe opened in 1954 as a nickel slot gambling parlor and transitioned into a restaurant shortly afterward.

The diner, best known for its greasy spoon breakfast food, was featured in a 2009 episode of “Man v. Food,” where host Adam Richman attempted its 12-egg omelet challenge.

Beth’s will be open on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on weekends from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
