Seattle Fire Department responds to hazmat situation in Chinatown-International District

The Seattle Fire Department responded to a hazardous material situation in the Chinatown-International District on Thursday.

Seattle police, medics and firefighters were on the scene on the corner of Tenth Avenue South and South Jackson Street.

Streets and sidewalks from South King and South Jackson were closed between 12th Avenue South and 10th Avenue South.

At around 1:15 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of an apartment complex to investigate the source of an odor on the third floor.

As a precaution, the building was evacuated while crews continue to investigate.

At around 2:41 p.m., residents were allowed back into their apartments after crews didn’t locate anything hazardous.

There were no arrests.
