Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner doesn’t want to play anywhere other than in Seattle.

Unfortunately, though, he knows that’s not necessarily up to him.

“I want to retire a Seahawk, but I understand it’s a business,” Wagner told the NFL Network on Saturday. “I’m preparing like this is my last year as a Seahawk. If it is, I want to make sure I go out with a bang and make sure I give the city something to remember.”

Wagner has one year left on his four-year deal with the Seahawks, and is set to make more than $10 million next season.

The 28-year-old recorded 138 total tackles last season, the fourth-most in the league, and had one interception that he returned 98 yards for a touchdown. He has recorded at least 114 tackles in every season in the league, and has been a first-team All-Pro selection the past three years. Wagner, who was drafted by the Seahawks in the second round of the 2012 NFL draft, led the league with 168 tackles in 2016.

Seahawks general manager John Schneider said that he hoped to sign Wagner to an extension before he hits free agency, though it’s unclear when the two sides will begin those discussions, if at all.

“Yeah there are several guys we would like to extend … Bobby has been incredible, so yeah, he’s a guy that has a year left on his contract,” Schneider told the Seattle Times last month. “He is representing himself, so.’’
