Seattle's esteemed Russian bakery Piroshky Piroshky bringing pop-up tour to Salem, Monmouth

Are you craving some piroshki? Consider your cravings satisfied because the popular Piroshky Piroshky bakery is doing a pop-up tour around the country and is stopping by the Mid-Valley, again.

The famed bakery is located in Seattle's Pike Place Market, and the last time they came into the area was last March. This time, they'll be stopping by Salem and Monmouth before continuing across the nation on their pop-up tour.

Piroshky Piroshky are well-known for the pastry they're named after, piroshki. These Eastern European hand pies are available as either sweet or savory, and made with yeast bread or pastry getting wrapped around a filling. The ones offered by the bakery are in various shapes to differentiate the fillings, ranging from sausage, vegetables, fruit or cheese.

They also offer monthly seasonal specials, and for January they include a bacon cheeseburger piroshki and a lemon twist. Specials rolling out in February include a chicken pot pie piroshky and strawberry marzipan hearts for Valentines. For those with dietary concerns, the bakery also offers vegetarian and a couple vegan options, including a new Impossible Beef and onion piroshky.

The Seattle bakery has been widely beloved since it opened in 1992, and was even featured on Anthony Bourdain's "No Reservations" and voted one of "The 20 Most Iconic Food Destinations Across America" by the Smithsonian.

To get some while they're in town, order on their website before 2 p.m. on January 23 to pick up in Salem, and before 2 p.m. on February 3 to pick up in Monmouth. Orders for Salem must be a minimum of $50, while for Monmouth must be $40.
