The SEC released its 2022-23 women’s basketball schedule on Wednesday, revealing Missouri’s 16-game slate for the season. The Tigers will play their home-and-home matchups against Kentucky, Arkansas and Alabama.

The first order of business will be Dec. 29 at Mizzou Arena against the Wildcats. Missouri makes its return trip to Lexington on Jan. 29.

Kentucky finished last season as a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament, but fell in the first round to Princeton. The Wildcats suffered significant losses in the offseason, especially with Rhyne Howard heading to the WNBA.

Missouri will go to Alabama on Jan. 5 and the Crimson Tide will come to Mizzou Arena on Feb. 5. Alabama finished 6-10 in the SEC last year and missed the NCAA Tournament, eventually falling in the quarterfinals of the WNIT against South Dakota State.

The Razorbacks will be in Columbia on Jan. 8. The Tigers will visit Arkansas on Feb. 12.

Last year’s Razorback squad finished 18-14, 7-9 in the SEC. They were selected as an 11-seed in the NCAA Tournament before being crushed 92-69 by Utah in the first round.

Another major game on the Missouri schedule is a trip to South Carolina to take on the defending national champion Gamecocks. The Tigers orchestrated one of the more stunning upsets of the 2021-22 season last year, when they pulled off a narrow 70-69 victory over top-ranked South Carolina at Mizzou Arena.

Head coach Dawn Staley’s team handled the defeat well, not losing again until the final game of the SEC Tournament against Kentucky. That would be the end of their defeats, as they marched through the NCAA Tournament bracket, eventually beating UConn 64-49 in the finals to take the championship back to the SEC’s other Columbia.

In addition to the home-and-home contests and the South Carolina matchup, the Tigers will play LSU, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State and Florida at Mizzou Arena. Missouri will travel to Auburn, Georgia, Texas A&M and Ole Miss.
