Second-alarm fire causes minor damage to Jaffrey business

Apr. 28—JAFFREY — Firefighters quickly doused a fire that caused minor damage to a commercial building Thursday afternoon, Jaffrey Fire Chief David Chamberlain said.

The department received a 911 call reporting a fire in the attic of Monadnock Disposal Service's container building at 139 Old Sharon Road at 2:09 p.m., Chamberlain said. By 2:19 p.m. the fire had been upgraded to a second alarm, and by 2:40 it was under control, he said.

No one was injured, and everyone was out of the building by the time emergency personnel arrived, according to Chamberlain. An investigation into the fire is ongoing, he said.

Firefighters from Peterborough, Rindge, Keene, Dublin, New Ipswich and Winchendon, Mass., also responded to the scene, while Greenville provided station coverage for Jaffrey.
