Second annual Outdoorsman Raffle is underway

Apr. 15—MARSTON — Tickets are now on sale for the second annual Outdoorsman Giveaway hosted by the Springhill Friendship Volunteer Fire Department.

Last year, the Scotland County Fire Association decided to pass the tradition to the SFVD after years of hosting the event.

"We have items to give away from $500 all the way up to a 2020 Toyota Tacoma truck," said fire department member Kathy McCallum. "Tickets can be bought through myself or any of the other volunteer fire members."

The drawing will be held on Aug. 7.

"We will start at 10 a.m.," said McCallum. "The entire event will last until 2 p.m. We will also have food and entertainment available during that time."

Tickets are $50 each and admission into the event without a ticket is $20.

"Some of the other items up for grabs are a Phoenix grill, a shotgun, a crossbow, a John Deere lawnmower and other various cash prizes," McCallum said.

The event will be held at Springhill Friendship Volunteer Fire Department located at 27860 Aberdeen Road in Marston. To purchase tickets or for information, call 910-291-3119 or contact McCallum at 910-318-3884.

"The money helps fund our fire department," said McCallum. "Our station is made up of all volunteers and fundraisers such as this help keep us operational and ready to help our community when we are needed."

McCallum also said winners will be responsible for state and federal taxes for prizes won.
