Children aged five and up are now also eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine shot.

“To enable as many people as possible to safeguard themselves from potential hospitalization and death due to the COVID-19 (virus), we’re authorizing second booster shots for anyone,” said Kuzin.

“I’d like to add that getting the vaccine is no longer about just personal protection, but also about reducing the strain on our healthcare system, which is busy with saving the lives of our wounded soldiers.”

According to Kuzin, the second booster shot can be taken as soon as four months after the first one was administered.

He added that the CoronoVac vaccine can be used to boost the effects of any other COVID-19 vaccines, including Comirnaty, Moderna, and others.

As COVID cases are on the rise across Ukraine, the ministry has a stock of 5 million doses of CoronaVac vaccines available, in addition to 400,000 Pfizer and 30,000 Janssen doses.

The ministry’s data shows an uptick in COVID infections in September.
