Second driver attacked in Ithaca in less than a week

For the second time in less than a week, a driver has been attacked by a stranger in Ithaca. The stabbing attack occurred shortly after 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

The Ithaca Police Department stated in a press release that officers responded to the 400 block of Meadow Avenue for a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, they discovered a victim who had been stabbed once in the left shoulder. The victim's injury is not life-threatening.

Police report the victim did not know the assailant, who fled the scene before the officers arrived and was reported to be heading in a southwest direction toward Fulton Street. He is described as a male in his late teens to early 20s, with a thin build and no facial hair, wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and pants.

On Saturday, Aug. 12, a delivery driver was sitting in his car awaiting food in 100 block of West Green Street when a stranger approached the car and punched him in the face through the car's open window. When the victim attempted to exit the car, the assailant stabbed him in the arm.

The suspect in Saturday's attack was located a short time later by IPD and taken into custody.

IPD stated the investigation into Wednesday's attack is ongoing. Anyone with information can contact IPD.
