A second hiker is missing on the California mountain where actor Julian Sands disappeared this month, authorities said.

The search for Jin Chung began Sunday after he separated from his group at Mt. Baldy and didn’t return to a designated meet-up point, the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department said.

The 75-year-old man from Los Angeles was last seen around 6 a.m. that day.

“Chung initially carpooled to Mt. Baldy with two others but separated from them when they arrived, with an understanding they would meet back at the vehicle at 2:00 p.m.,” the sheriff’s department said. “The other hikers returned safely but Chung has not been seen or heard from.”

His disappearance comes more than a week after Sands, whose films include “A Room with a View” and “Leaving Las Vegas,” was reported missing on Mt. Baldy on Jan. 13.

The search for Sands, 65, continued over the weekend, with officials employing helicopters and drones equipped with infrared technology, the sheriff’s department said in an update Monday.

Conditions including snow, ice and wind have complicated the search efforts at Mt. Baldy, located about 45 miles northwest of Los Angeles.

In a statement Monday, Sands’ family thanked the “heroic” officials leading the search.

“We are deeply touched by the outpouring of support and love,” the family said in the message shared on the sheriff department’s Twitter page.
