A second Kroger is coming to Arlington. Here's when the store could open

A new Kroger location is coming to Arlington next year.

In a press release sent Wednesday, Kroger's Delta Division announced there would be a groundbreaking ceremony on July 6, with the project expected to be complete by summer 2024. The store will be located at 5270 Airline Rd.

The new 103,402 square foot building will require a $22.3 million dollar investment from Kroger, and include a drive-thru pharmacy, Starbucks, and the usual grocery selection.

Michael Cristal, Kroger Delta Division President, called it a significant investment in the region.

“This significant investment of a new Kroger store represents our ongoing commitment to theeconomic development and job growth in the Delta Division," he said in the press release. "We look forward to bringing a Full, Fresh and Friendly experience with high-quality products at affordable prices and services for residents.”

This will be Arlington's second Kroger location, with the existing store less than 2 miles north of the new location. There are more than 25 Kroger locations in Shelby County, the majority of which are in the Memphis suburbs.
