Second man arrested in Cumberland County shooting that killed teen in April

A second man was arrested Tuesday morning in the April shooting death of a Hope Mills teen.

Jayquan Deshawn Blandshaw, 22, is charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill/inflict serious injury in the death of Victoria Faith Jefferson,18, and the wounding of another woman on April 17 in the 5500 block of Gilcrest Sands Drive, according to court records.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office announced on May 12, that warrants had been issued for Blandshaw and Jocephus Jones III in the homicide. Jones, 21, was arrested four days later on a charge of first-degree murder.

During Jones' first appearance in court May 17, a Cumberland County prosecutor said that an argument at the Gilcrest Sands Drive home preceded the shooting.

Blandshaw is being held at the Cumberland County jail without bail. He is also being held on unrelated counts of failure to appear on charges of felony larceny, possession of stolen goods, possession of a stolen firearm and carrying a concealed weapon, jail records indicate.
