Second man arrested for December double murder at Jasper County sports bar

Andrew Lee Grober II, a 26-year-old Beaufort man, is the second person arrested in connection to a shooting at a Jasper County sports bar that killed two twin brothers and left two other individuals injured.

Grober was charged Friday with two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder and two counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

The shooting took place around 2:30 a.m. on December 16 in the parking lot of Baba Bar, a sports bar in the Riverwalk Business Park in Jasper County.

Affidavits from the S.C. Law Enforcement Division (SLED) tell a near identical story to those of Jamar Nazir Smith-Hagood, 23, who was arrested in connection to the shooting in December. They say Grober was involved in a physical altercation with “two rival groups of people” when he brandished a firearm and shot multiple times at the victims, striking one person in the leg and fatally injuring two others.

Several witnesses identified Grober as the shooter when shown surveillance footage of the incident from a nearby business, according to the arresting documents.

TraJaan Fripp was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting. His brother, Tranquan Fripp died shortly after at a local hospital, according to the Jasper County Coroner’s Office. The twins, who both lived in Beaufort, were killed three days after their 24th birthday.

Baba Bar is listed as “permanently closed” on Google and the phone number connected to the business is no longer in service.

Because the crime happened in Jasper County and the victims and suspects resided in Beaufort County, SLED handled the investigation of the case. Prosecution of the case will be handled by the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
