Second phase of Chardon Road resurfacing in Willoughby Hills has begun

Jun. 6—Phase 2 of the Chardon Road resurfacing project has begun in Willoughby Hills.

Chardon Road is now closed westbound between River Road and Worrell Road. One alternate route will now be to go eastbound, right onto Worrell, right onto Rogers Road and then another right onto River. This route will lead motorists back to Chardon Road. The westbound lane will be detoured to Rogers Road.

"I appreciate the patience I have seen with the motorists and I recognize it is inconvenient, but in the long run, we will be very happy when the project is completed and the '96 bumps' are gone," Mayor Andy Gardner previously told The News-Herald.

Phase 2 is expected to last about 30 days, and any driveway entrances, both business and residential, will remain open throughout construction. All complaints and inquires may be directed to ODOT's public information line at 216-584-2005.

The resurfacing of Chardon Road began May 9, and residents' concerns are continuing to be monitored, according to the city. On May 18, the north side of Chardon Road was closed and traffic was routed to use the south side of the road. The south side has since been paved and Ronyak Paving has started its work on the north side.

Chardon Road, between SOM Center Road and River Road remains westbound only. The alternate route remains Eddy Road, and the detour is marked for City Hall, the Community Center, Roemisch Fields and St. Noel Church.
