Second primary election on Aug. 2

Jun. 10—NORWALK — Ohio will have a second primary election on Aug. 2.

This does not replace or alter the election that occurred on May 3. The second primary is due to the Ohio Redistricting Commission's maps being rejected by the Ohio Supreme Court prior to the May election. Due to the maps being delayed, the candidates for state representative, state senate, and state central committee did not have accurate districts in which they would represent.

All voters are eligible to vote in the Aug. 2 primary election even if they voted in the May 3 election.

Below is a breakdown of the districts for Huron County:

State Senate 2nd District — Bellevue 3, Bellevue 4, Lyme Twp, Sherman Twp, Willard 1, Willard 2, Willard 3, Willard 4, New Haven Twp, Plymouth Vlg, Richmond Twp, Bronson #1, Bronson #2, Peru Twp, Fairfield Twp, Fairfield Vlg, Fitchville Twp, Greenfield Twp, Norwich Twp, New London Twp, New London #1, New London #2, Ridgefield Twp, Monroeville Vlg, Ripley Twp, Greenwich Twp, Greenwich Vlg, Hartland Twp, Clarksfielf Twp.

State Senate 13th District — Norwalk City, Norwalk Twp, Townsend Twp, Wakeman Twp, Wakeman Vlg.

State Representatives 89th District-Bellevue 3, Bellevue 4, Lyme Twp, Sherman Twp, Willard 1, Willard 2, Willard 3, Willard 4, New Haven Twp, Plymouth Vlg, Richmond Twp, Bronson #1, Bronson #2, Peru Twp, Fairfield Twp, Fairfield Vlg, Fitchville Twp, Greenfield Twp, Norwich Twp, New London Twp, New London #1, New London #2, Ridgefield Twp, Monroeville Vlg, Ripley Twp, Greenwich Twp, Greenwich Vlg, Hartland Twp, Clarksfielf Twp.

State Representative 13th District — Norwalk City, Norwalk Twp, Townsend Twp, Wakeman Twp, Wakeman Vlg.

All of Huron County will have something to vote on in August, but it should be noted that the State Senate 2nd District will not be on the ballot until 2024.

Early voting will begin July 6 at the Board of Elections Office, 180 Milan Ave., Norwalk. Voters should use the rear parking lot and enter using entrance C.

Voters also have the option of submitting an absentee application which can be found at the board's website https://www.huron.boe.ohio.gov/ or in the drop box in the front of the board's office. Voters should select the primary election box and enter Aug. 2, 2022 for the date of the election.

On Election Day, the polling locations will be open from 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.
