Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers is on the verge of opening its second Indianapolis-area location.

The popular chicken tenders chain will open in Noblesville at 13020 Campus Parkway on Thursday, April 13. At its grand opening event, Raising Cane's will have a drawing to give away Free Cane's for a Year to 20 customers. Customers can enter from 8 to 9 a.m. at the restaurant.

Built on a limited menu, Raising Cane's opened its first Indianapolis-area store in Avon at 8970 E. U.S. Highway 36 in November.

Raising Cane's beginnings

From a college class business plan, Todd Graves started the chain in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1996, and named it after his yellow Labrador retriever, Raising Cane.

It’s the fastest growing in terms of visits at the top five fried chicken chains in the U.S., according to the Fried Chicken Index from Top Data, a market research agency.

A recent Saturday Night Live skit pokes fun at the enthusiasm the brand can generate.

It’s not the only fried chicken place with a cult following that will be popping up around the area.

That 20-year-old Arkansas-based chain specializes in hand-breaded chicken tenders cooked to order and tossed in choices of 17 proprietary dipping sauces, including two that are made on-site.

Franchisee PrimeStar Restaurant Group last summer announced plans to open about 40 units across the state, including those slated for Indianapolis’ Traders Point neighborhood, Westfield, Avon and Franklin in 2023.
