Second Sin Brewing is coming to Newtown. What to expect at new taproom

Another local craft brewery is coming to Newtown Borough.

True to the spirit of its name, Second Sin Brewing Company will soon give customers more opportunities to indulge in its beers with the opening of a second taproom on North State Street.

Currently, Newtown Brewing Company is the only local craft beer business in the borough.

Second Sin, which is based in Bristol Township, was started in 2019 by founders, Mike Beresky, Phil Harris and Jake Howell, who began eyeing Newtown early on with the hopes of one day expanding their operation.

“We love the idea of being in a town and becoming part of a community that we have been visiting for years. Isaac Newtons and the Newtown Beer Festival were a big part of our formative beer drinking years,” Beresky said.

“We're very fortunate to have made it through the pandemic due to the support from our fans. Our goals for Second Sin were never just about one small brewery and taproom so it feels great to take the first step towards what we hope to grow the company into,” he added.

Second Sin Brewing Company offers a variety of craft beers styles, including Home Phield Advantage, a double dry-hopped hazy IPA.

Working with a professional designer, Beresky said the aesthetic of the new taproom will fall in line with their vision for the brand moving forward.

“We wanted a clean modern look with some more rustic touches, just a comfortable space to enjoy some good beers with good company,” he said.

Plans for the new location include live music on occasion, as well as trivia nights and other seasonal events. They also hope to work with the borough to host food trucks at the Newtown location.
