Second suspect arrested after deadly apartment shooting

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A second suspect connected to a deadly shooting earlier this month at an apartment complex in the Grantville neighborhood was arrested Tuesday evening in Mississippi, authorities said.

A warrant was obtained for the arrest of 23-year-old Jacarre Easter, Lt. Daniel Meyer with the San Diego Police Department said in a news release Wednesday. Police found him in the 3000 block of West Fourth St. in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

The shooting on the evening of March 1 in the 4500 block of Alvardo Canyon Road resulted in the deaths of two men, 31-year-old Joseph Taylor and 24-year-old Lavion Estridge, according to police. Taylor, who was a San Diego resident but did not live at the apartment complex, and Estridge, who police believe was a security guard at the apartment complex, were found inside the stairwell of the apartment complex with gunshot wounds.

Authorities determined there was some sort of altercation among a group of people near the pool area inside the apartment complex when at least three people began shooting. It is unknown why the group was gathering, but the gunfire is believed to be gang related.
