Second suspect charged in connection with Nov. 22 shooting of two in Lansing

LANSING – A second suspect has been charged in connection with a shooting that injured two people in Lansing early last week.

Jimmy Tyrone Henry, 38, of Lansing, was arraigned Nov. 25 in 54A District Court on 11 felony counts, including three counts each of attempted murder and firing a weapon from a vehicle causing injury. Lansing police did not release his name or announce the charges until Wednesday.

The charges stem from the Nov. 22 shooting of a 33-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man in the area of Norman and Herbert streets. Both victims were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

An attorney listed for Henry in court records could not immediately be reached for comment by the State Journal.

Karl Alphonso Lockridge III, 33, of Detroit, was charged Nov. 23 with nine felony counts, including three counts of assault with intent to murder and wearing body armor while committing a violent crime.

Lockridge was arrested after a police chase and a crash in downtown Lansing following the shooting, police said.

An Ingham County Sheriff's deputy spotted a vehicle believed connected to the shooting at Pennsylvania Avenue and Saginaw Street and tried to stop the driver, who sped off with the deputy in pursuit, officials said.

The vehicle eventually crashed into another vehicle at West Ottawa and North Walnut streets, and the driver was taken into custody. No one was injured in the crash.

Officers found a handgun in the vehicle.
