Second teen dies after Saturday night crash in Tuscaloosa County

A second teen has died after a Saturday night car crash in Tuscaloosa County that left two other teens injured, according to state troopers.

One of the occupants of a 2005 Nissan Maxima, a 17-year-old from Vance, was pronounced dead at the scene of the single-vehicle crash on Alabama Highway 69, troopers said Sunday.

On Monday, troopers said that a passenger in the car, a 17-year-old from Tuscaloosa, died of injuries sustained in the crash after being taken to an area hospital.

Two other passengers, a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old who are both from Tuscaloosa, are being treated at area hospitals for their injuries.

According to troopers, the Nissan Maxima left the road and struck a ditch. The crash occurred at around 10:25 p.m., about 5 miles south of the city of Tuscaloosa.

Troopers said none of the teens wore seat belts at the time of the crash.

An investigation into the crash is being handled by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's Highway Patrol Division.
