Second wildfire reported in Bastrop County; 30 acres with 0% containment
Bastrop County officials are battling a new, 30-acre wildfire off Hellinger Road.
Officials responded to the fire, named the Mesquite Field Fire, at 2:35 p.m. Wednesday at 554 Hellinger Road. The Texas A&M Forest Service reported at about 3:45 p.m. that the fire was 30 acres with 0% containment.
No evacuations are currently necessary, Bastrop County Emergency Medical Service said on its Facebook page.
Mesquite Field is roughly 14 miles south of the Powder Keg Fire, a blaze that started Tuesday and covered approximately 100 acres near Bastrop State Park in the city of Bastrop. That fire was 65% contained as of Wednesday afternoon.
