'The Secret Garden' from Holland Community Theatre opens Thursday

With the show set in England, director Sandra Griffin has made an effort to teach the young actors dialects and accents.

“Half the cast has been working on speaking in a proper British Dialect and the rest have been working on a dialect from the North Country (Yorkshire),” Griffin stated in a release. “The North Country dialect is much trickier and the kids are working hard. The show has several levels of accomplishments; many of the kids excelling in their accents. And a few that just can’t get it. And that’s OK.”

Several of the cast members are “new-to-theater kids” this year. Griffin said it’s been “amazing” to see them project and work on their characters. She added “the cast really has seemed to gel and it’s a wonderful thing to see. We have lots of fun and laughter during our rehearsals.”
