Secret Service Officers Push Back Indigenous Activists Outside White House

Indigenous activists rallied outside the White House in Washington, DC, on October 11, urging US President Joe Biden to declare a national climate emergency.

Native American leaders, tribal members, and supporters gathered in the capital on Indigenous Peoples’ Day for the protest, part of the five-day People vs Fossil Fuels event. Demands include more extreme actions to curb carbon-producing fossil-fuel projects, according to the event’s website.

According to Washington Post reporter Ellie Silverman, United States Secret Service (USSS) officers used a fence to move climate protesters away from the White House and towards Lafayette Square.
