Section finals loom for St. Cloud-area track and field athletes
ST. CLOUD — State qualifiers will be decided this week for local track and field athletes, with many athletes hitting their stride late in the season.
Cathedral and St. John's Prep already began sub-sections at Pierz last week, where Cathedral boys won their first sub-section meet in 12 years. Both teams will compete in the Section 5A finals at St. John's University on Wednesday.
Tech, Apollo and Sauk Rapids-Rice have the Section 5-2A finals on Friday in Monticello, while Sartell (Section 8-3A) and Albany and ROCORI (Section 8-2A) have section finals on Saturday as they look to book spots at state next week.

Athletes will only appear on the list once per event. For example, if an athlete had the three best area times in the 100m dash, only their top performance will be on the list.
Here are the top outdoor performances in each event from St. Cloud-area schools: Albany, Apollo, Cathedral, ROCORI, Sartell, Sauk Rapids-Rice, St. John's Prep and Tech. The meet location of the performance is also listed for each event.
