Section V Scoreboard: Final week of the regular season

The playoffs are finally here.

Local girls and boys basketball teams wrapped up the regular season with an exciting slate of games that cemented final records and playoff standings for the Section V tournament.

Canisteo-Greenwood and Avoca/Prattsburgh battled for the SCAA Championship in Canisteo.

The Avoca/Prattsburgh combined girls and boys basketball teams each pulled off their first combined team Steuben County Championship. The Dansville boys basketball team won the LCAA Championship and also grabbed the top seed in the Section V B2 tournament. Other local teams finished with strong performances, grabbed high seeds and are looking very good heading into the second season.

Thursday, Feb. 17

Hornell 68, Marcus Whitman 57

Hornell wraps up the regular season at 12-8 as the No. 5 seed in the B1 tournament.

Wednesday, Feb. 16

No. 1 Avoca/Prattsburgh 81, No. 3 Campbell-Savona 48

C-G finishes the regular season with a 13-6 record and enters the C1 tournament as the No. 4 seed.

Dansville 44, Geneseo 35

Avon 62, Livonia 41

L: Connor Feehan career-high 17 points, five 3s.

A: Zach Colvin 17 points, 16 rebounds; Hudson Volpe 17 points, 7 rebounds.

Letchworth 71, Haverling 54

L: Lucas Hanson 20 points; Nik Eustace 16 points; 8-11.

Hornell is now 11-7.

Dansville 56, Letchworth 50

D: Drew Morrow 22 points, 14 rebounds; Jakob Smith 10 points, 10 rebounds; clinches Class B2 No. 1 seed.

No. 6 Hammondsport 48, No. 7 Arkport-Canaseraga 46

A-C concludes the season with an overall record of 4-16 and will be the No. 8 seed in the Class D1 tournament.
