Sectional heroes and game-winners: Vote for Indiana high school basketball player of week.

Jeremiah Alexander, Beech Grove: The senior guard had 24 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals in a 71-50 win over Speedway in Class 3A Sectional 28 and then had the two go-ahead free throws with 30 seconds left in a 51-50 win over Cardinal Ritter for the sectional championship. Alexander had 10 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two assists in the championship.

Luke Almodovar, Noblesville: The senior guard led Noblesville to its first sectional championship in 13 years with a 23-point game in a 58-50 win over Zionsville for the Sectional 8 championship. He also had 19 points in a 47-45 win over Westfield in the semifinal.

Lukas Balling, Marquette Catholic: The 6-6 senior had 24 points and 25 rebounds in a 82-69 win over Westville, then had 13 points and five rebounds in a 51-44 win over Argos and 24 points and 12 rebounds in a 49-41 win over Culver to win Class A Sectional 50.

Xavier Booker, Cathedral: The Michigan State recruit capped a big week with 22 points and six rebounds on 9-for-13 shooting in a 76-33 win over Crispus Attucks for the Class 4A Sectional 10 championship. Booker also 22 points, 17 rebounds and five blocked shots in a 64-61 semifinal win over Warren Central.

Markus Burton, Penn: The senior guard went for 36 points, 10 rebounds, seven steals and four assists in a 55-37 win over Goshen in the sectional semifinal, then scored 37 points on 14-for-21 shooting in a 75-62 win over Northridge to win the sectional championship at Elkhart.

Clay Butler, Ben Davis: The senior guard rose to the occasion in the sectional championship with 22 points, seven assists and four rebounds in an 80-59 win over Pike to take Class 4A Sectional 11. Butler also had a big game in the sectional opener with 16 points in a 62-46 win over Southport.

Isaac Eagle, Loogootee: The senior provided a spark in the championship of Class A Sectional 63 with 11 points in Loogootee’s 41-34 win over Orleans. Eagle had 20 points in a 48-28 win over Barr-Reeve in the sectional semifinal and 19 points in an 88-30 win over Vincennes Rivet in the first round.

Forest Park team: The Rangers, after a 6-17 regular season, defeated Crawford County (57-45) and Tell City (74-41) to advance to the championship of Class 2A Sectional 48. Forest Park then reversed a 20-point regular-season loss to North Posey to knock off the Vikings 49-48 and win the sectional.

Brycen Hannah, John Glenn: The senior had a huge game in a 58-47 win over Culver Academy in the Class 3A Sectional 18 championship. Hannah scored 14 points in the third quarter on four 3-pointers and finished with 27 points to lead the Falcons to their first sectional championship since 2005.

Luke Helmuth, Westview: The junior went for a career-high 23 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals in Westview’s 78-65 win over Central Noble for the Class 2A Sectional 35 championship.

Isaac Higgs, Evansville Reitz: The senior had 24 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals in Evansville Reitz’s 64-53 win over Jasper to win Class 4A Sectional 16. He had 15 points, four assists and four steals in a 49-47 win over Evansville Central in the semifinal and 20 points and seven rebounds in the 53-41 win over Castle.

Xavier Highbaugh Jr., Cardinal Ritter: The junior had 12 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals in a 51-50 loss to Beech Grove in the Class 3A Sectional 28 championship. Highbaugh had 19 points, four assists and three steals in a 67-45 semifinal win over Washington.

Devaon Holman, Warren Central: Holman made a shot to remember, drilling a 3-pointer as time expired in overtime to give Warren Central a thrilling 61-58 win over Lawrence Central in the first round of Class 4A Sectional 10.

Logan Imes, Zionsville: The senior guard and Penn State recruit had 33 points, including 12 straight during a 12-0 second-half run, to lead Zionsville to a 59-53 win over Fishers in the Sectional 8 semifinals at Carmel. He had 18 of his 24 points in the second half of the championship as Zionsville cut an 18-point deficit to one, but fell short in a 58-50 loss to Noblesville.

Jennings County team: To end an 18-year sectional championship drought, Jennings County rallied from a 12-point deficit in the final 3 minutes, then from down by nine in the second overtime to beat Bedford North Lawrence 72-71 – and that was just the first game of the sectional. Jennings County then rallied from a 15-point deficit to defeat Jeffersonville 48-46 in the sectional semifinal and then knock off New Albany 51-39 to win Sectional 15 at Seymour.

Tae Johnson, Fort Wayne North Side: The junior guard went for 26 points, 15 rebounds, five assists and two steals in a 64-48 win over Fort Wayne Northrop in the Class 4A Sectional 5 championship game.

Ty Kalb, Northeast Dubois: Kalb hit the game-tying 3-pointer in overtime to help the Jeeps to a 53-51 win over Evansville Christian to win Class A Sectional 64 at Wood Memorial.

Jevon Lewis, Fort Wayne Wayne: The junior guard had a memorable week in leading Fort Wayne Wayne to its first sectional championship since 1994. Lewis had 33 points in an 84-58 win over New Haven, then the game-winner at the buzzer for a 55-53 win over Homestead in the sectional championship.

Grant Luebbe, Northeastern: The senior had 13 points and four rebounds in a 47-41 win over Shenandoah, then had 25 points on 7-for-8 shooting from the 3-point line in a 66-33 win over Union County and went for 20 points and five rebounds in a 54-41 win over Hagerstown in the Class 2A Sectional 41 championship.

Keegan Manowitz, Jennings County: The senior came up clutch for Jennings County in a 72-71 double-overtime win over Bedford North Lawrence. Manowitz made three free throws with 8.7 seconds left in regulation to tie the game, made three more free throws with 43 seconds left in the second overtime to tie it again and made one more with 2 seconds left to provide the winning margin. Manowitz scored a game-high 25 points for Jennings County, which went on to win its first sectional title in 18 years.

Blaine Nunnally, New Palestine: The senior guard had 11 points, seven rebounds and three steals in a 48-35 win over Pendleton Heights in the Sectional 9 semifinal and then went for 22 points, nine assists and five rebounds on 9-for-13 shooting in a 71-57 victory over Mt. Vernon to win the sectional championship.

Max Robertson, Tri-West: The junior had 24 points and six rebounds on 11-for-17 shooting in a 57-39 win over Crawfordsville in the Class 3A Sectional 25 and then had 27 points in a 56-44 loss to Danville in the sectional championship.

Matt Roettger, Peru: Peru knocked off two top-5 teams to win Class 3A Sectional 23 and Roettger had a big part in it. The junior had 26 points, eight rebounds and three assists in a 71-63 win over Mississinewa, then 18 points, nine rebounds and five steals in a 55-47 win over fifth-ranked Oak Hill and 21 points, 12 rebounds and three steals in a 78-68 win over third-ranked Norwell.

Ty Sanders, Guerin Catholic: Sanders was headed to the free-throw line with 3:12 left in Friday’s Class 3A Sectional 27 semifinal against Brebeuf Jesuit. Then, a roof leak caused the game to be delayed to the following night at Shortridge. Sanders, after 23 hours to think about it, knocked down both free throws and Guerin went on to win, 58-45. Sanders pitched in seven points and a team-high rebounds in a 53-41 championship win over Bishop Chatard.

Durray Smith, Lutheran: The senior guard had 19 points on 5-for-7 shooting from the 3-point line in Lutheran’s 83-44 win over Providence Cristo Rey and then had 17 points on 5-for-8 shooting from the 3-point line in a 61-57 win over Greenwood Christian for the Class A Sectional 59 championship.

Shayne Spear, Kokomo: In an 85-51 victory over Marion for the Class 4A Sectional 7 championship, the senior put up a career-high 24 points and dished out a career-high nine assists.

Nolan Swan, Tipton: The junior had a memorable week by reaching the 1,000-point milestone and winning a championship in Class 2A Sectional 39. Swan had 21 points and four assists in a 74-38 win over Eastbrook followed by 30 points and four rebounds in a 73-56 win over Madison-Grant and went for 26 points, five rebounds and three steals in a 58-40 win in the championship against Taylor. Swan was 26-for-42 from the field, including 10-for-21 from the 3-point line. He was 15-for-15 from the free-throw line.

Logan Webb, Linton-Stockton: The senior guard had 15 points in a 72-48 win over Paoli in the first round of Class 2A Sectional 47, then had 33 points in a 74-42 win over Mitchell in the semifinal and 20 for the top-ranked Miners in a 49-32 win over South Knox in the championship.

K.J. Windham, Ben Davis: The junior went off with 21 points on seven 3-pointers in a 76-46 win over Franklin Central in the sectional semifinal, then had 14 points in an 80-59 win over Pike for the Sectional 11 championship.
